2016 Review

Needless to say, I have not finished Mage, my fourth Tracker Series story.

Still, I hope to get the last few chapters done this coming week, and do the first edit, before the end of the year.

Then work on the cover and formatting in Dec – Jan holidays and hopefully, release at the end of January, 2017.

I also plan on not doing much of anything during January except watch Australian Tennis on TV.

In November, my sister gave me some books she read and loved.

They were Matthew Reilly’s thrillers, or action adventure stories, Ice Station, Temple, Contest, Area 7, and Scarecrow.

And Seven Ancient Wonders, Six Sacred Stones and Five Greatest Warriors. Fantastic stories!

Of course, I had never heard of Matthew before, and wondered why not. His books are International Bestsellers.

If you decide to read them, I warn you, you will be exhausted after reaching “THE END” of each story, then after a good sleep, searching second hand shops for the next book.

Just Google Matthew Reilly to locate the books. I won’t put in his web site link because some one hijacked it.

When I finished reading them, I decided I had better read through my How to Write a Thriller and How to Write an Action Adventure books to see where they coincide with each of Matthew’s story plots.

Discovered that Matthew’s books have great examples of:

Cliff hangers
Start the scene as late as possible and end on a cliff hanger
Teams working with protagonist
Enough description of each weapon and how it was used in the story action
Adding plans and maps to help anchor the reader in the country and area of action
Well thought out antagonists
Hiding clues in speech and description without drawing reader’s attention to them
Good description
And good story plots with twists and turns throughout
Weaving relationships through the plot

So, if you are looking for some great reading over the holidays and have never read a Matthew Reilly thriller, find one and settle in for the night.

As for 2016, it flew by while I was writing.

I did not meet all my planned outcomes, but it was still a win for me.

The first three Tracker stories published. The forth almost finished.

Did Advanced Character and Dialog Workshop with Dean Wesley Smith.

Studied advertising for fiction. Still need to put most of it in place, but currently working on reader review lists for each genre.

Discovered the Coupon Code for Sensing Danger 2: Capture had expired so I fixed it for another 12 months. If you tried to get the second book and the coupon did not work, please try again. I am so sorry I had not checked it earlier. If you lost the coupon code please comment below and I will email it to you.

How did your year go?

Have a restful and safe holiday, and I look forward to seeing you all in 2017.
